Title — Goddess and Devil
Scene: 10 Seconds to Kill a God**
One of his men — too nervous, too stupid — fired.
The bullet didn’t hit her.
It dared to kiss the air beside her ribs.
A warning.
A mistake.
Crack.
She didn’t blink.
Her hand moved once.
And his man dropped with a scream, leg torn open by her shot — fast, merciless, and precise. Not even a second.
The others froze.
No one else so much as breathed.
And she?
She chuckled.
Again.
Soft, wickedly amused. Almost impressed.
“Damn,” she mumbled, as if critiquing a flirt instead of a firefight. “That was nearly hot of him.”
Her eyes slid back to Aatharv — amused, exhausted, bored of this empire and its steel-toothed dogs.
Then came her words. Lethal in delivery, lazy in tone.
“So either you shoot,” she said, tilting her head like a sleepy cat,
“or I shoot.”
A pause.
“Ten seconds, and my work is done.”
A long yawn slipped from her lips. She actually stretched her neck.
“I need sleep,” she mumbled like she wasn’t holding the life of a devil on her fingertip. “Tomorrow’s maths exam.”
She looked up at the sky as if blaming the rain for her fate.
“I haven’t even studied.”
Aatharv finally spoke.
His voice?
Velvet-wrapped gunpowder.
Deep. Calm. Slow. Like every syllable was lit with purpose.
“…You know what’s worse than being shot by a beautiful girl?”
He smiled.
“That she does it looking like she’d rather be in bed with her textbooks.”
He tilted his head, eyes never leaving hers.
“You fascinate me, sweetheart.”
He took one step forward — slow, controlled — his forehead brushing the cold muzzle of the gun.
He didn’t flinch.
“You’re the first woman to ever point a gun to my head and yawn in my face.”
Another step.
“You want to kill me? Fine. But you’ll have to live knowing you ended the only man who might’ve been worthy of you.”
A pause.
His eyes flicked down to her soaked hair, her clinging frock, her pulse visible just beneath the skin of her throat.
“And if I shoot you…” he whispered, “…I’ll die anyway.”
The rain whispered around them.
No one moved.
“Eight seconds,” she murmured, almost like she was counting stars.
He smiled wider.
“I could fall in love with you,” he said, tone disturbingly calm.
“But I’d rather burn beside you.”
